GONDHORAJ CHICKEN OR KING LIME CHICKEN is a very delicious recipe. This is also a very aromatic dish where the chicken cooked in yogurt, Gondhoraj lebu (King Lime) juice and Gondhoraj leaves. Gondhoraj is the king of Lemons. Gondhoraj Lebu Or King Lime is also known as Kaffir Lime. This is no ordinary lemon. It has an extraordinary fragrance. no wander it is refer to as King Lime. The Gondhoraj Lebu is the pride of west Bengal, where the lemon is typically grows. The use of this lemon in this dish gives it a majestic vibes. The skin of this lemon also has a very good fragrance, so when you add the zest of the lemon into the dish it works wonders. This dish is a very light  curry as we are not using many spices but the lime juice and the lemon leaves gives it a lip-smacking taste. The Lime juice and the leaves just enhance the flavour of the chicken and the aromatic  and tangy flavour is to die for. A big dollop of steamed snow-white rice and this aromatic GONDHORAJ CHICKEN is all you need for a weekend lunch. INGREDIENTS:

(1) Chicken 500gm, (2) 2inch Ginger paste, (3) 10-12 Garlic paste, (4) 1 medium sized Onion paste, (5) 1/2 cup Yogurt, (6) 4 Green Chilli paste ( Depending on taste), (7) 3 Whole Green Chilli, (8) 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder, (9) 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder, (10) 1 Gondhoraj Lebu ( King Lime), (11) King Lime Zest, (12) King Lime Leaves, (13) 1 Bay Leaf, (14) 6-7 Whole Black Peppercorns, ( 15) 4-5 Green Cardamoms, (16) 1inch cinnamon stick, (17) Salt To Taste, (18) Sugar To Taste, (19) Refined Oil.

Making Time Of GANDHARAJ CHICKEN:

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes.

Cooking Time: 20 Minutes.

Total Time: 50 Minutes.

Step By Step Making Process Of GONDHORAJ CHICKEN:

(1) Take a mixing bowl and add the yogurt, salt to taste, half of the ginger paste, half of the garlic paste, king lime zest, black pepper powder, king lime juice, 2 tsp refined oil and mix the ingredients nicely.


(2) Now add the chicken pieces into the yogurt batter and mix. Marinate the chicken for 30 minutes. 


(3) Heat 2tsp refined oil in a pan. Add the bay leaf, black peppercorns, green cardamoms, cinnamon stick and sauté for a minute.

 (4) Now add the onion paste and sauté for 2 minutes.


(5) Then add the remaining ginger paste, garlic paste and fry it till the raw smell goes away. 

(6) Add some salt to taste, green chilli paste as per your taste and mix.


 (7) Add the coriander powder and sauté. 

(8) Now add the marinated chicken pieces one by one and keep the remaining marination aside. Mix the chicken pieces with the spices properly. Fry the chicken for 2-3 minutes.

(9) Now add some water into the remaining marination and pour it into the pan. Don't add too much water.


 (10) Add the sugar as per your taste, give it a stir and cover it. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes.

(11) When the chicken cooked nicely switch of the flame and add the whole green chilli, lemon leaves, king lime juice and cover it. Give it a standing time of 5 minutes. Don't boil the curry after adding the lemon leaves and juice. 



Your GONDHORAJ CHICKEN is ready to serve.
