HOW TO MAKE BENGALI STYLE CHICKEN CURRY(আলু দিয়ে মুরগির ঝোল বা মাংসের ঝোল) WITH POTATOES BY INDIAN FOOD MASTI

We Bengali love this CHICKEN CURRY WITH POTATOES OR MURGIR JHOL or MANGSHOR JHOL recipe . This  MURGIR JHOL OR CHICKEN CURRY recipe is very popular in Bengali homes. It is a kind of ritual to cook CHICKEN CURRY or MURGIR JHOL or MANSHOR JHOL on every other Sunday in the Bengali kitchen. It is one of my favourite chicken dish. In this recipe the chicken cooked in a spicy curry with potato chunks. The consistency of the curry is much thinner than other recipes, which is very different from restaurant style curries. You can have this CHICKEN CURRY with steamed rice.

INGREDIENTS:

(1) Chicken 500 gm, (2) 2 potatoes cut into medium piece, (3) 2 large sized onion chopped, (4) 2 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic paste, (5) 1 large sized Tomato paste, (6) 1 Dry Red Chilli, (7) 1 Bay leaf, (8) 2-3 Green Cardamoms, (9) 2-3 Cloves. (10) 2 inch Cinnamon Stick. (11) 1 teaspoon Cumin seed, (12) 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder, (13) 1 teaspoon Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder, (14) 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder, (15) 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder, (16) 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder, (17) 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder, (18) Salt to taste, (19) 1/2 teaspoon  Sugar, (20) Oil. 

Making Time Of  CHICKEN CURRY WITH POTATO:

Preparation Time: 15 Minutes.
Cooking Time: 20 Minutes.
Total Time: 35 Minutes.

Step By Step Making Process Of CHICKEN CURRY WITH POTATO:
(1) Firstly, heat some oil in a pan and fry the potatoes nicely and keep them aside. 
(2) In the same oil add 1/2 teaspoon sugar, dry red chilli, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick, cumin seed, green cardamom and saute. 
(3) Add the onion and saute till it become translucent. 
(4) Then add the ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away.
(5) Then add the tomato paste and fry for a minute. 
(6) Now add all the spices one by one except the garam masala. Add the red chilli powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and saute. 
(7) Now add the chicken and mix it nicely with all the spices. Saute the chicken till it become tender start to separate the oil from the spices. 
(8) Add the potatoes and mix it. 
(9) Now add 2 cups of  water. You can adjust the water according to how much of gravy you want. 
(10) The add salt to taste, garam masala, give it a stir and cover it with a lid. Let it cook for 15-20 minutes till the chicken and potatoes cooked nicely.
